Disruptions Due to Life

Much has happened since my last post. Divorce is on the horizon. There has been a change in location and work status. Life, my life in particular, has been in a constant state of upheaval. The kids have adjusted well, I'll give them that. Childhood resilience is amazing.

My resilience is less than amazing. I have failed miserably with handling things and I'm tired of the way I've been handling things. So to get myself out of the dumps, I signed up for the 2016 Nashville Country Music Marathon. Rational people do that, right? Sign up for near impossible goals while under intense pressure?

Yeah, so I'm going to blog it. The ups and downs of training from scratch, the personal bullshit that I seem so fond of getting myself into, everything...

Training starts tomorrow. I really am starting from scratch, I haven't run in forever. I just gorged on Mexican food and now I'm throwing back a venti full fat mocha. I'll probably nap at some point and let all the fat settle into my ass.

Back on track

I've been lazy for a few days. So I need to get off my ass and get back to work.

Today is a 2-3 mile walk followed by a WOD with running (yaaaaayyy....) and then some laps at the pool.

Tomorrow should be fun. I'm finally going for a bike ride off the trainer. David and Tina will come with. It will be nice to get out on the road. Looking for about 25-30 miles.

Forced rest day

I'm freaking tired. Seriously. So I may or may not do my 4 mile run this evening.  If I don't, I'm not sweating it.

I had a beer for lunch. It was delicious.

Oh come on! Do I have to?

Another day, another set of training.  It isn't bad. Really...

Yesterday was a short recovery jog, nothing else. I kind of missed not doing much of anything. I did need the rest as I was really sore for some reason.

Today:

I have an hour ride I need to do when Little Man goes to sleep. So another sweaty training ride while watching The Glades. Yeah, I didn't manage to get more than 15 minutes. I'm wiped!

Day 3 of Crossfit-light:

Benchmarks
1. Max Air Squats in 90    31

2. Max Sit-ups in 60         22 with abmat

3. Max Burpees in 60 (dear God, no)    10

4. Max Push ups in no set time      15 knees

5. Max Pull ups in no set time       8 with green and purple band

6. 800 m run     5:17 at a 10:30 pace; mid-day pushing kids

Rest up to 5 minutes between each set and record achievements marking things like assists.

And I've got some pool time I need to work in.

Also, I've smoked my last cigarette in the pack. So here goes nothing. I'll be shit for a few days.

I'm exhausted!

I attempted a midafternoon run yesterday. It didn't go so well. And I thought I was getting used to running in the sun!  Oh well, I needed a rest day so yesterday was it.

My husband turned me on to a book, Fire Your Gym. It is basically a 9 week Crossfit-light program. No complicated Oly lifts or anything like that. So I'm going to incorporate those workouts into my training.

On tap today:

2.5 mile walk followed up by Day 1. Day 1 is basically a fit test of sorts. 400 m run, 40 air squats, 30 sit ups, 20 push ups, 10 pull ups for time. Edit: 00:09:35

Then while the kids are playing at the pool I'm going to just do a quick unbroken (hopefully) 100 m. This will be the first attempt since getting my breathing straightened out. Edit: I did several laps, freestyle, back, and just kick while holding on to boychild in his float. I did not do 100 unbroken. But I did do 50 unbroken. That's something. It's also the first time I've done laps since my lesson last week...

And this evening I have a Spin class. If I don't get to the Spin class, I'll ride on my trainer. That's probably the better idea so I can get my ass acclimated to the saddle and aero bars. It's an hour ride.

Busy day for me.

Side note: My local running store is looking for mentors to help out with their beginner 5k program so I emailed and said I was interested. Hopefully they'll bite and shoot me an email back. It'll be fun. And it'll get me out of the house some for some adult interaction, which is sorely needed.

Deferment inevitibility

So I deferred to 2016 and signed up for the Half for 2015. It truly is the smart thing to do.

Today is run and swim. I will run this morning and swim this afternoon. Take the kids to the play pool in between.  Same old, same old here.
